46th Edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle Highlights Connection Between Fitness and Environment
The 46th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, themed 'Pedal for Clean Air', brought together nearly 500 participants in Delhi and thousands more across over 10,000 locations nationwide. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with partners including CPCB and CSE, the event emphasized the message 'Clean Air, Fit Body' as a shared national goal, promoting both fitness and environmental awareness.
The 46th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, known as 'Pedal for Clean Air', was held across India with nearly 500 participants at Delhi's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and thousands more joining from over 10,000 locations. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India, Yogasana Bharat, MY Bharat, CPCB, and CSE, the event highlighted the connection between fitness and environmental health. The theme 'Clean Air, Fit Body' was championed by speakers including CSE Director-General Sunita Narain, who stressed the importance of clean air for public health. The event featured athletes, students, and fitness enthusiasts, including gymnasts Sneha Tariyal and Priyanshu Nath Thakur, and Olympian coach Lakhan Sharma. The movement, which began in December 2024, has grown to involve over 14.5 lakh citizens across 1.25 lakh locations, supported by more than 3,500 NaMo Fit India Cycling Clubs. The initiative has become a nationwide campaign for fitness, sustainability, and social harmony, engaging diverse groups such as CAPFs, doctors, teachers, government employees, schoolchildren, MPs, and RWAs. The significance of the campaign was highlighted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat, recognizing its role in uniting people for health, happiness, and unity through fitness.
