46th Edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle Promotes Fitness and Clean Air Nationwide
The 46th Fit India Sundays on Cycle event, titled 'Pedal for Clean Air,' united nearly 500 participants in New Delhi and thousands across 10,000+ locations nationwide to promote fitness and environmental awareness. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports with key partners, the event emphasized the link between clean air and physical health, featuring notable athletes and environmental leaders.
The 46th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, called 'Pedal for Clean Air,' took place on November 2, 2025, with nearly 500 cyclists participating in New Delhi and thousands more joining from over 10,000 locations across India. This movement highlights the connection between physical fitness and environmental health, urging clean air as a shared goal for the nation. The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India, Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat, with special participation from the Central Pollution Control Board and the Centre for Science and Environment. At Delhi’s Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, athletes like gymnast Sneha Tariyal, sub-junior national gold medalist Priyanshu Nath Thakur, and Olympian coach Lakhan Sharma participated. CSE Director-General Sunita Narain emphasized that clean air and fitness are interdependent, stating cycling as a major tool to combat pollution. Beyond Delhi, simultaneous events were held nationwide, involving diverse groups such as government employees, police forces, healthcare workers, and citizens. Since its inception in December 2024, the initiative has engaged over 1.45 million people from 125,000 locations, growing into a significant Jan Andolan (people's movement) advocating fitness, sustainability, and community unity. The campaign also garners weekly support from more than 3,500 NaMo Fit India Cycling Clubs and has been recognized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat address, highlighting the initiative’s expanding social impact and nationwide outreach.
