The Association of International Chemical Manufacturers (AICM) released its 2025 Sustainable Development Report at the China Chemical Industrial Park Development Conference, highlighting innovation in bio-based materials, high-performance polymers, and recycled materials as key drivers for China's green chemical industry. The report emphasizes that corporate strategic vision, policy support, and customer demand are crucial for advancing sustainability, with half of surveyed companies achieving green factory certification through energy optimization, resource recycling, and digital monitoring.

At the China Chemical Industrial Park Development Conference in October 2025, AICM introduced its annual Sustainable Development Report, focusing on 'Innovation in Chemical Materials and Green Value Chain Synergy.' The report draws on case studies and surveys of member companies to analyze progress in material innovation and green value chain integration. It finds that 90.9% of companies view a clear corporate strategic vision as the main driver for material innovation, with bio-based materials, high-performance polymers, and new energy/recycled materials emerging as critical areas of focus. These innovations are increasingly applied in automotive lightweighting, high-performance electronics, and green packaging. AICM Chairman Xia Fuliang highlighted the integration of global technologies and best practices to support China's dual-carbon goals, mentioning advancements in chemical recycling, zero-carbon factories, and whole-chain carbon management. Managing Director Tina Dai noted that policy initiatives, downstream customer demand, and intrinsic corporate strategy collectively propel the industry's green transition. The survey revealed that 50% of respondents have obtained green factory certification, achieving goals such as intensive land use, clean production, and low-carbon energy through measures like energy structure optimization, resource recycling, and digital monitoring. AICM, representing most major international chemical companies in China, continues to foster dialogue and experience sharing to support the modernization and sustainable development of the country's chemical sector.
