Air India Completes Retrofit of Legacy A320neo Fleet with Upgraded Interiors
Air India has successfully completed the retrofit program for its 27 legacy A320neo aircraft within one year, as part of a $400 million fleet modernization initiative. Combined with 14 new A320neos and those from Vistara's merger, Air India now operates 104 A320 family aircraft featuring new or upgraded cabin interiors, serving 3,024 weekly flights across 82 domestic and short-haul international routes.
Air India announced the completion of the retrofit program for its legacy A320neo fleet, with all 27 aircraft returning to service equipped with brand-new cabin interiors and the airline's vibrant new livery. This retrofit began in September 2024 and was achieved within a record one-year timeframe as part of a broader $400 million initiative to modernize the airline's entire legacy fleet. Alongside the retrofitted legacy aircraft, Air India's A320 family now includes 14 newly delivered A320neos and additional aircraft integrated following the merger with Vistara, totaling 104 planes with new or upgraded interiors. These aircraft operate 3,024 weekly flights across 82 domestic and short-haul international routes, including major Indian city connections such as Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bengaluru, and Mumbai-Hyderabad, and international destinations such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Mauritius, and Singapore. The retrofit program enhances passenger comfort with upgraded seats across three cabin classes and delivers a consistent inflight experience, supporting Air India's commitment to being a world-class global airline that honors India’s rich hospitality legacy.
