Air India Express to Expand Fleet
Air India Express is planning to add 20 to 24 aircraft to its fleet next year, focusing on domestic market growth. This expansion is contingent on supply chain progress and aims to increase penetration in metro to tier 2 and tier 3 city routes.
Air India Express, the low-cost arm of Air India, is expected to induct 20 to 24 new aircraft into its fleet in the next calendar year. This expansion is dependent on the supply chain and production line progress at Boeing's manufacturing facility. The airline is prioritizing growth in the domestic market, particularly in connecting metro cities with tier 2 and tier 3 cities, which is the fastest-growing segment of the Indian aviation market. Currently, the airline has a balanced network with 50% domestic and 50% international short-haul flights, marking a shift from its previous 60% international focus.
