Atomgrid has launched a new R&D centre in Bengaluru to accelerate innovation in the specialty chemicals sector. This strategic move aims to shift Atomgrid's focus from manufacturing to R&D, developing proprietary molecules and formulations. It capitalizes on global supply chain realignments, positioning India as a reliable alternative to China. The centre will enhance capabilities across the innovation lifecycle, from process development to technology transfer, supporting global expansion and building a strong intellectual property portfolio, ultimately strengthening India's role in the global market.

Atomgrid officially opened its new Research & Development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru's KIADB Industrial Area Jigani, signaling a strategic commitment to innovation within the specialty chemicals industry. This launch is particularly timely as global supply chains are diversifying away from China, presenting a significant opportunity for India to assert itself as a dependable alternative. Unlike many manufacturing-focused Indian chemical companies, Atomgrid adopted a unique strategy, first establishing a strong global downstream presence before backward integrating into proprietary molecules and formulations, with this R&D centre serving as the pivotal engine for this transformation.Siddharth Gupta, Co-Founder of Atomgrid, highlighted India's crucial position in specialty chemicals, noting global customers' demand for partners capable of combining innovation with execution. The facility will develop proprietary processes for active ingredients and patented formulations tailored for international markets, building on Atomgrid's existing distribution network across over ten countries and substantial export revenue. The Bengaluru R&D centre boasts advanced capabilities covering the entire innovation lifecycle, including route scouting, process development, optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer. It currently employs fifteen scientists, with plans to expand, focusing on high-purity, cost-efficient active ingredients. Prabhu Dharmalingam, Director – Research & Development, underscored the centre's mission to bridge the gap between lab-scale discoveries and industrial production, addressing the historical challenge of scaling innovations globally in India due to a lack of process rigor. This facility is also crucial for accelerating Atomgrid's commercialization pipeline, supporting global registration programs, and fostering a robust intellectual property portfolio through patents over the next five years, solidifying Bengaluru as a hub for specialty chemicals innovation and enhancing India's global market position.
