Bahrain FM Seeks Deeper India Ties, Regional Connectivity

Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani expressed his nation's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with India during the 5th India-Bahrain High Joint Commission meeting in New Delhi. In his opening remarks, Alzayani stated that Bahrain aims to achieve tangible outcomes through discussions with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. He underscored Bahrain's priority for regional peace during its upcoming term on the United Nations Security Council. Alzayani highlighted the long-standing economic and cultural ties between the two nations, noting that India remains one of Bahrain's primary trading partners. He emphasized the importance of economic cooperation and interdependence for peace and prosperity, and expressed Bahrain's aspiration to enhance connectivity between India and the broader region. This goal, he noted, depends on achieving lasting and sustainable peace in the Middle East, built on dialogue, coexistence, and mutual respect. Alzayani also acknowledged the vibrant Indian community in Bahrain and the deep friendship between the two countries. Prior to the meeting, EAM Jaishankar welcomed his Bahraini counterpart and looked forward to productive discussions.
