Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani arrived in India to co-chair the fifth meeting of the India-Bahrain High Joint Commission alongside External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. This meeting is a key institutional mechanism for reviewing and deepening the multi-faceted partnership between the two countries, which share longstanding ties in history, culture, and economic engagement dating back to 1971. The discussions aim to take stock of progress in existing areas such as petroleum products, machinery, electronics, and food items, while exploring new domains including fintech, renewable energy, digital technologies, health, education, and people-to-people relations. Bilateral trade and investment have grown robustly, with strong contributions from the large Indian community residing in Bahrain. This visit also continues the positive momentum generated by high-level visits like Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic 2019 visit to Bahrain. Both countries emphasize mutual respect, economic cooperation, and development focused on their peoples as cornerstones for future collaboration, seeking to strengthen ties through regional and international forums as well.
