BCPL Highlights Assam's Petrochemical Growth Potential at India Energy Week 2026
Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) showcased Assam's petrochemical growth at India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, highlighting the state as a key industrial engine for the North-East. Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) actively participated in India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 at the Assam Pavilion in Goa, showcasing Assam’s significant growth potential in the petrochemical sector. The event, held from January 27–30, 2026, served as a platform to highlight Assam's emergence as a crucial industrial hub for the North-East, driven by its robust gas-based petrochemical ecosystem. The Assam Pavilion was inaugurated by Dr. JB Ekka, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department, Government of Assam, underscoring governmental support for the initiative.During the Assam State Session, Pranjal Changmai, Managing Director of BCPL, delivered a presentation on ‘Gas Cracker Industry in Assam and Investment Opportunities in Auxiliary and Downstream Sectors.’ He detailed BCPL’s instrumental role in adding value to the region’s abundant natural gas resources through its integrated petrochemical complex, which boasts an installed capacity of 280 KTPA of polymers. This capacity supports the growth of diverse downstream sectors, including plastics, packaging, infrastructure materials, and manufacturing, thereby creating opportunities for both MSMEs and large enterprises.Changmai further emphasized that improved connectivity, expanding gas infrastructure, and a conducive policy framework are collectively accelerating Assam’s position as an attractive investment destination. India Energy Week 2026 itself was a premier global energy platform, drawing over 75,000 energy professionals and 700 companies worldwide, signifying India’s growing influence in the global energy transition. The Assam State Session within this larger forum presented the state’s comprehensive energy roadmap, encompassing hydrocarbon exploration, the Northeast Gas Grid, City Gas Distribution, Petrochemicals, and Non-conventional energy. The participation of senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and various PSUs reinforced the strategic commitment to infrastructure development, industrial diversification, and investment facilitation, highlighting the broad multiplier effect of the gas-cracker ecosystem on allied industries.
