The Narpoli Police conducted a significant raid on November 14 at Arihant Compound in Val Dapoda, Bhiwandi, targeting six godowns operated by Orange Goods Storage and Transits Company. Acting on a tip-off, officers discovered a massive illicit stock of highly flammable and hazardous chemicals, collectively valued at ₹2,30,81,070. These dangerous substances were allegedly stored without the mandatory licenses or necessary safety clearances, presenting a grave risk to human lives, animals, property, and the environment.Following the extensive seizure, authorities registered a case against Mulund-based trader Mihir Gudhka. He stands accused of unlawfully hoarding these volatile chemicals for personal financial enrichment, completely disregarding the required permissions from relevant departments. Police officials highlighted that Gudhka was fully aware of the severe consequences, including potential loss of life and environmental degradation, that could arise from storing such materials without adequate safety protocols.The seized inventory included chemicals housed in six large tanks, 217 barrels, 641 iron and plastic drums, 2,632 bags, 168 boxes, and 16 various containers. The sheer volume of the confiscated materials has sparked considerable concern regarding safety compliance within Bhiwandi's industrial godown areas. Police Naik Mahadev Shinde filed the complaint, and a thorough investigation is underway to identify the origin of the chemicals, their intended distribution, and to uncover any broader network or individuals involved in this illegal operation. Officials have also issued a stern warning, affirming that strict measures will be taken against anyone found violating safety norms, particularly concerning hazardous and inflammable substances that jeopardize public safety.
