Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal has formally requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to rename Delhi as Indraprastha, emphasizing the city's ancient, cultural, and civilizational roots. Khandelwal highlighted that Delhi, historically known as Indraprastha, was established by the Pandavas during the Mahabharata era and symbolizes India's rich heritage. He proposed renaming Old Delhi Railway Station to Indraprastha Junction and Indira Gandhi International Airport to Indraprastha Airport. Additionally, Khandelwal requested the installation of grand statues of the Pandavas at a prominent location in Delhi to honor the city's founders and inspire future generations. The MP stated that renaming Delhi would restore its historical identity, cultural pride, and align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of cultural resurgence. He also noted that just as other ancient cities like Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Ujjain, and Varanasi have reclaimed their original names, Delhi should also be honored by restoring its ancient identity as Indraprastha. Khandelwal emphasized that this transformation would not only represent historical justice but also a significant step toward a cultural renaissance, reviving the spirit of India's history, culture, and faith.
