Chart successfully supplied large reciprocating hydrogen compressor packages to major Indian customers, enhancing India's hydrogen infrastructure. Engineered in the Netherlands and partially supplied by Howden India, these compressors meet API 618 standards, with power ratings up to 7,400 kW, tailored for demanding industrial hydrogen compression applications.

Chart announced a significant milestone by delivering large reciprocating hydrogen compressor packages to leading customers in India, marking an important step in bolstering the country's hydrogen infrastructure. The compressor systems were engineered and built by Chart’s Howden facility in the Netherlands, while additional packages were provided by Howden India, illustrating effective international cooperation within Chart’s network. The Polysilicon Compressor Packages deliver 5,500 kW of installed power and feature 4-throw, horizontal balanced-opposed reciprocating compressors driven by synchronous motors, designed to meet API 618 (5th Edition) standards for hydrogen gas compression in polysilicon production. Additionally, the H₂ Rich Gas Compressor Package, designed for high-demand industrial operations, offers 7,400 kW of power using a 6-throw equivalent compressor, also complying with API 618 standards. These units are the largest reciprocating compressors installed at their respective Indian facilities and have been custom-engineered to optimize uptime, energy efficiency, and safety in challenging process environments. This delivery underscores Chart’s ongoing commitment to supporting India's transition toward a sustainable hydrogen economy by providing reliable, efficient, and robust hydrogen compression solutions through innovation and engineering excellence.
