The Basic Chemicals, Cosmetics & Dyes Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL), under India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry, hosted a full-day workshop in Kolkata on November 4, 2025, as part of its ongoing Trade Compliance Series, following a similar session in Mumbai. The event was designed to strengthen the compliance readiness of India’s chemical exporters, with a focus on three key areas: AEO frameworks for secure and efficient cross-border trade, SCOMET regulations for controlled chemical and technology exports, and mandatory data reporting through the ChemIndia Portal to enhance transparency and traceability. Senior government officials, including the Chief Commissioner of Customs and the Joint DGFT, Kolkata, alongside trade and legal experts, delivered detailed sessions to clarify regulatory requirements and offer practical compliance strategies. CHEMEXCIL Chairman Satish Wagh emphasized the strategic importance of compliance for sustaining India’s growth in global chemical markets, noting that chemical exports rose between April 2024 and September 2025 despite global headwinds, due to exporters’ adaptability and proactive regulatory engagement. The workshop aimed to enhance exporters’ preparedness for evolving international standards, reduce compliance risks, and foster alignment with global frameworks. By building knowledge and readiness, CHEMEXCIL continues to support India’s chemical exporters in maintaining a strong, reputable, and secure position in international markets.
