CHEMEXCIL conducted a capacity-building workshop in Kolkata aimed at enhancing trade compliance awareness among India's chemical exporters. The workshop covered key areas such as Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), SCOMET export controls, and the ChemIndia Portal. The initiative supports exporters in aligning with global trade standards to improve competitiveness amid evolving international regulations.

The Basic Chemicals, Cosmetics & Dyes Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, organized a full-day capacity-building workshop in Kolkata on November 4, 2025, focused on trade compliance for India's chemical exporters. This event was part of CHEMEXCIL's ongoing Trade Compliance Series, following a similar session held in Mumbai earlier in September. The workshop featured discussions on critical compliance topics such as Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification, SCOMET (Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment and Technologies) export controls, and mandatory data reporting through the ChemIndia Portal. Key speakers included government officials like the Chief Commissioner of Customs and the Joint DGFT of Kolkata, alongside trade law experts. CHEMEXCIL Chairman Satish Wagh emphasized the essential nature of compliance for export competitiveness, highlighting that despite global challenges, India's chemical exports demonstrated growth between April 2024 and September 2025. The workshop aimed to build exporters’ preparedness to meet international regulatory requirements, reduce risks in global trade transactions, and promote alignment with evolving global standards to sustain and enhance India's chemical industry exports.
