Fertilizer and chemical businesses across Jammu and Kashmir are under increased scrutiny after the busting of a Delhi-linked terror module connected to the recent Red Fort blast. Security agencies have intensified inspections after recovering 29,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, a chemical commonly used in explosives, from the rented accommodation of Dr. Muzamil Shakeel in Haryana. The seizure was part of an inter-State terror module allegedly planning coordinated attacks. District teams are conducting checks on fertilizer and chemical dealers, verifying stock registers, documents, and tracking the movement of regulated materials to prevent misuse. Five fertilizer wholesalers have already been detained in Haryana for their alleged role in supplying fertilizers to the terror module. Ammonium nitrate, widely used as a fertilizer, is regulated under strict rules due to its potential for explosive use. Authorities are urging businesses to comply with regulations and maintain updated records to prevent the diversion of industrial chemicals for unlawful activities.
