Coal India Output and Offtake Decline in October 2025
Coal India's production fell 9.8% in October 2025, with offtake down 5.9%. For April-October, cumulative production dropped 4.5% and offtake decreased 2.4% compared to the previous year. The decline is attributed to subdued demand and post-monsoon challenges.
Coal India Ltd reported a significant drop in both production and offtake during October 2025, with output falling 9.8% year-on-year to 56.4 million tonnes and offtake declining 5.9% to 58.3 million tonnes. Over the April to October period, the company's cumulative production stood at 385.3 million tonnes, down 4.5% from the same period last year, while total offtake was 415.3 million tonnes, a 2.4% decrease. The slump is linked to weaker demand and operational difficulties following the monsoon season. These figures highlight ongoing challenges for the country's largest coal producer despite its dominant role in India's energy sector.
