Cochin Shipyard Limited has signed a Letter of Intent with Denmark's Svitzer to manufacture next-generation electric TRAnsverse tugboats in India. The collaboration aims to advance green maritime technology, support India's port modernization, and align with national sustainability goals.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and Svitzer, a global towage leader based in Denmark, have entered into a significant partnership to build advanced electric TRAnsverse tugboats in India. The agreement was signed during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, marking a milestone in India's maritime manufacturing sector. These electric tugs are designed for high maneuverability, enhanced safety, and reduced emissions, supporting India's Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. The collaboration leverages CSL's shipbuilding expertise and India's engineering ecosystem to develop vessels for Svitzer's global fleet and potential domestic use. This initiative is a major step toward decarbonizing harbor operations and promoting sustainable maritime solutions in India and globally.
