Cyprus Supports Early Conclusion of India-EU Free Trade Agreement
Cyprus strongly backs the early conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the European Union and India, viewing it as a catalyst for enhancing EU-India relations and unlocking significant economic opportunities. During a visit to India, Cyprus Foreign Affairs Minister Constantinos Kombos expressed strong support for the early conclusion of the long-negotiated Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the European Union and India. He stated that finalizing the FTA would deepen EU-India ties and open vast economic opportunities beneficial for both India and European countries. Kombos described India as a natural partner and ally, emphasizing its emerging influence as a leading voice in a multipolar global order. He underscored shared democratic values and the potential for future cooperation between the two nations, both shaped by their colonial pasts. Highlighting the importance of the India-Mediterranean Economic Corridor (IMEC), Kombos noted Cyprus's strategic geographical position and its potential role in reshaping global trade routes and economic activity through this connectivity platform.
