In the 12 months from September 2024 to August 2025, Delhi Airport handled more than 670,000 transit passengers traveling between Asia and Europe, reflecting a 34 percent year-on-year increase from the previous year's 498,000 passengers. Transit traffic from East to West grew by 34 percent, while West to East transit increased by 35 percent. This rise underscores Delhi Airport's expanding importance as a major international transfer point connecting continents. The growth has been driven by prominent carriers including Air India and IndiGo. Additionally, Japan Airlines is set to launch a new service connecting Delhi and Tokyo, which will further strengthen the airport's connectivity. Delhi Airport, managed by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), is India’s largest airport with a capacity exceeding 100 million passengers annually, and its evolution as a transit hub aligns with its status as a critical node on Asia-Europe air routes.
