A technical fault in the Automatic Message Switching System at Delhi Airport caused delays for over 800 flights and disruptions across other major airports. The Airports Authority of India resolved the issue by involving the OEM and manual processing of flight plans. Although the system is functional now, minor delays persist due to backlogs, with ongoing efforts to restore full normalcy.

On November 6, 2025, a significant technical glitch in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), essential for air traffic control communication and processing flight plans, was detected at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. This caused widespread disruptions, delaying more than 800 flights and affecting thousands of passengers not only in Delhi but also at other airports like Mumbai, Jaipur, and Lucknow. Some cancellations also occurred. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) promptly conducted a review meeting involving senior officials and took immediate action, including engaging the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and deploying additional staff to manually process flight plans to maintain safe air traffic operations. Although the AMSS system is now operational, the AAI cautioned that residual delays may continue due to backlogs in automated processing. A dedicated team of ECIL officials and AAI personnel remains on-site to monitor and ensure system stability. The glitch caused average flight delays of nearly 50 minutes and significant operational challenges for major airlines such as IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet. Authorities continue to work toward complete normalization of flight operations at Delhi Airport, India's busiest aviation hub.
