Delhi Assembly Speaker Honors Swami Dayanand Saraswati as Architect of India’s Freedom
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta hailed Swami Dayanand Saraswati as the true architect of India’s freedom, crediting his reformist ideas for inspiring early revolutionaries and shaping the independence movement's moral foundation. Speaking at the International Arya Samaj Conference, Gupta highlighted the influence of Arya Samaj leaders like Dayanand and Shraddhanand on India’s struggle against colonial rule and their role in promoting revolutionary spirit and social reform.
At the International Arya Samaj Conference in Rohini, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Arya Samaj, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta praised Swami Dayanand Saraswati as more than a reformer—he called him the 'true architect of India's freedom.' Gupta emphasized that Dayanand’s teachings played a pivotal role in inspiring India's earliest revolutionaries and laid the moral foundation for the independence movement. He cited Dayanand’s seminal work, Satyarth Prakash, as the philosophical underpinning encouraging generations to challenge injustice and colonial rule. Gupta drew historical links between the Arya Samaj movement and freedom fighters such as Lala Lajpat Rai and Ram Prasad Bismil, showing how Dayanand’s ideals fueled patriotic courage. He also highlighted Swami Shraddhanand’s leadership in Delhi during the 1919 Satyagraha, connecting it to the broader nationwide struggle following the Rowlatt Act and the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Furthermore, Gupta framed the Arya Samaj as a revolutionary force transcending caste and creed, focused on creating ideal citizens with national unity above all else. The conference also saw participation from prominent leaders like Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and DAV Management National President Punam Suri, alongside international delegates, emphasizing Arya Samaj’s enduring global influence.
