Delhi BJP Criticizes Priyanka Gandhi for Late Concern on Air Pollution
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for raising concerns about Delhi's air pollution only recently, accusing her party of ignoring the issue for nearly two decades. He highlighted past government failures and claimed current BJP efforts have improved winter pollution control.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva responded to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's recent social media post expressing concern about Delhi's air pollution. Sachdeva questioned why she had not spoken up earlier, pointing out that the city's pollution crisis has persisted for nearly two decades, especially during Congress-led governments. He accused the previous Sheila Dikshit administration and the Congress government in Punjab of neglecting the issue, citing increased crop burning and worsening air quality. Sachdeva argued that significant improvements in winter pollution control have only come about due to recent BJP government initiatives. He suggested it would have been more appropriate for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to acknowledge these efforts. In her post, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra described Delhi's air as a 'grey shroud' and called for urgent action from both central and state governments, emphasizing the health risks faced by citizens, especially children and the elderly. She tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, urging collective action to address the ongoing pollution crisis.
