Delhi Hikes Parking Fees Amid GRAP Stage-II Activation
Delhi's NDMC has increased parking fees as part of GRAP Stage-II measures to combat rising pollution. The move follows a significant increase in the city's Air Quality Index, prompting stricter pollution controls.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has doubled parking fees in Delhi as part of the measures under GRAP Stage-II, which was activated due to the city's deteriorating air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) had risen to 'very poor' levels, prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management to enforce stricter pollution controls. These measures include enhanced dust control, restrictions on non-compliant vehicles, and increased public transport services. The decision aims to reduce pollution by discouraging private vehicle usage and promoting cleaner modes of transport. Additionally, commercial goods vehicles not meeting BS-VI emission standards will be restricted from entering Delhi from November 1, 2025.
