The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been selected for the Indian Concrete Institute's (ICI) prestigious 2025 award in the 'Outstanding Prestressed Concrete Structure' category for its Maujpur–Majlis Park corridor. This corridor, part of Phase IV, will form India's first circular ring metro line upon completion. The award will be conferred at the ACECON conference in December 2025. Additionally, DMRC has introduced a new UPI-based payment system in its app for seamless, cashless commuting.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has received the Indian Concrete Institute's (ICI) 2025 award for the Maujpur–Majlis Park corridor, recognized as an outstanding example of prestressed concrete construction in India. This corridor is a critical segment of Delhi Metro's ongoing Phase IV expansion and is set to become the capital's—and the country's—first fully circular ring metro line upon its completion, significantly boosting urban connectivity. The formal award ceremony is scheduled for December 2025 at the ACECON conference in Hyderabad. In parallel, DMRC has launched 'DMRC Pay powered by BHIM', a new UPI payment feature integrated within the Delhi Metro Sarthi app. Developed in partnership with NPCI BHIM Services Limited, this feature allows commuters to purchase tickets quickly and securely using UPI, without relying on external payment gateways, and supports registration of UPI IDs, linking of bank accounts or RuPay cards, and seamless in-app transactions. DMRC claims to be the first public sector entity in India to roll out such a next-generation UPI solution, aimed at enhancing convenience for millions of daily commuters. The app also now offers ticket booking for the 'Jai Hind Sound and Light Show' at Red Fort, with no additional convenience fee. These developments underscore DMRC's ongoing efforts to modernize urban transit infrastructure and passenger experience in Delhi.
