Delhi recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 278 on Thursday morning, categorized as 'poor,' with forecasts predicting deterioration to 'very poor' later. Pollution levels are expected to remain high from November 6 to 8, accompanied by increased respiratory risks. Winds from the northwest will temporarily increase, lowering temperatures and visibility.

Delhi woke up to a hazy morning on November 6, 2025, with its AQI recorded at 278, placing the air quality in the 'poor' category according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The Air Quality Early Warning System forecasts that the situation will worsen to 'very poor' by evening and remain stagnant with elevated pollution levels and significant respiratory health risks through November 8. Winds from the northwest are expected to rise to 15 km/h by afternoon, lowering temperatures to around 12.7 degrees Celsius—below seasonal averages—and reducing visibility before easing below 10 km/h by evening. The pollution surge follows Diwali festivities, exacerbating Delhi’s persistent air quality issues amid the onset of cold winter weather. CPCB classifies AQI levels between 201 and 300 as 'poor' and 301 to 400 as 'very poor'. The forecast warns of persistent smog, reduced air quality, and associated health hazards across age groups without immediate improvement measures. This degradation is compounded by seasonal climatic factors, with maximum temperatures predicted near 29 degrees Celsius along with mist, further influencing air quality conditions in the capital.
