Delhi is set to conduct its first cloud seeding trial today, aiming to induce artificial rain to combat severe air pollution. The trial involves an aircraft from Kanpur and will use silver iodide and sodium chloride to form rain clouds in northwest Delhi.

Delhi's first cloud seeding trial is planned to take place today, pending improved visibility in Kanpur. The operation, in partnership with IIT Kanpur, aims to induce artificial rainfall using compounds like silver iodide and sodium chloride. The trial is part of Delhi's strategy to reduce air pollution, which typically worsens during winter. The process requires suitable cloud formations and moisture levels, and the India Meteorological Department has indicated possible cloud formations between October 28 and October 30. If successful, artificial rain could help wash away pollutants and improve air quality in the capital.
