Energy Minister Meets Caribbean Gas Chemical to Boost Petrochemical Growth
Minister Ernesto Kesar met with Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited executives to discuss expanding production and strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s petrochemical industry. Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries of Trinidad and Tobago, convened with the leadership of Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL) at the Ministry's headquarters to explore opportunities for growth within the petrochemical sector. The discussions included Acting Permanent Secretary Karinsa Tulsie and Chemical Engineer Anushka Benny. The meeting emphasized government commitment to supporting the petrochemical industry's stability and growth, focusing on CGCL's operational strategies to boost production capacity and economic efficiency aiming to enhance value creation for the national economy. CGCL operates as a joint venture comprising Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company Inc., Mitsubishi Corporation, Massy Holdings Ltd., and the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago. Minister Kesar acknowledged CGCL's economic contributions and underlined the importance of collaboration between the government and private sector to sustain competitiveness in the global energy market. Both sides agreed on maintaining continuous dialogue and cooperative efforts towards shared developmental goals, reflecting the government's strategy to leverage the country's energy resources for economic growth through strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders.
