On November 6, 2025, ERLDC, GRID-INDIA, and IIT Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an R&D project to develop an AI-driven Smart Home Energy Management System. This system will optimize electricity usage based on real-time Time-of-Use tariffs, grid frequency, and ancillary signals to help households reduce costs and enhance grid stability. The partnership signifies a major step in applying AI and digital innovation to advance smart, consumer-centric power grids.

ERLDC, GRID-INDIA, and IIT Delhi have formalized a partnership through an MoU signed on November 6, 2025, for a research and development project titled “Design and Development of an AI-enabled Smart Device with Real Time-of-Use Tariff-based Demand Side Management Controller.” The project aims to create an AI-powered Smart Home Energy Management System that leverages real-time electricity pricing (Time-of-Use tariffs), grid frequency data, and ancillary signals to optimize electricity consumption at households. This initiative is designed to help consumers minimize electricity costs while supporting grid reliability and stability. The MoU was signed by Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean of Corporate Relations at IIT Delhi, and Shri Rajib Sutradhar, Executive Director at ERLDC, GRID-INDIA, marking a significant milestone in integrating AI and digital technologies into future grid management. The collaboration underlines GRID-INDIA’s commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation in the power sector, aiming to build a more flexible, intelligent, and consumer-focused electricity system.
