The accused allegedly used these chemicals to convert ammonium nitrate into explosives, prompting the sealing.

The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad has sealed two chemical shops, BR Scientific and Chemicals and Paul Chemicals, located at NIT Nehru Ground, Faridabad. This action was taken on Thursday following directions from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which had been probing the sale of chemicals to individuals accused in the Delhi Red Fort blast case. The accused, identified as Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Saeed, are alleged to have purchased chemicals from these establishments.A committee, formed by Badhkal subdivisional magistrate Trilok Chand at the NIA's behest, investigated the matter and subsequently recommended the sealing to the MCF's joint commissioner. The investigation revealed significant violations by both shops, including maintaining chemical stock beyond permissible limits without valid permission and failing to keep proper records of chemicals sold or customer details. These breaches also constituted violations of their operating licenses. The NIA's involvement began after the arrest of the terror accused, leading to raids on the two shops to examine their sales records. Police sources indicated that Ganaie and Saeed reportedly acquired chemicals from these shops with the intent to convert ammonium nitrate fertilizers into explosive material. During the investigation, the NIA brought Saeed to one of the shops, but the shopkeeper stated he could not recall her due to the high volume of daily customers. Investigators subsequently confiscated the record registers and requested the SDM to initiate a formal inquiry committee, which ultimately led to the sealing of the premises. Officers from the police, drug control team, food supply team, and crime branch were present during the sealing operation.
