Faridabad Shops Sealed for Alleged Chemical Sales to Blast Accused
Faridabad's Municipal Corporation sealed two chemical shops, BR Scientific and Paul Chemicals, following a request from an SDM-formed committee, which acted at the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) instance. The shops were allegedly involved in selling chemicals used for explosives to Red Fort blast accused Dr Muzammil and Dr Shaheen Saeed. Investigations revealed the shops held excessive stock, misused trade licenses, and sold chemicals without proper licenses or maintaining buyer records.
The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) has sealed two chemical shops, BR Scientific and Paul Chemicals, located at NIT Nehru Ground, following allegations that they sold chemicals used for explosives to Delhi blast accused Dr Muzammil and Dr Shaheen Saeed. This decisive action was initiated at the behest of a committee formed by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Trilok Chand, which in turn was constituted at the specific instance of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).Earlier, post the arrest of the alleged terrorists, the NIA had conducted raids on these very shops, meticulously examining their records of chemical transactions. Police sources indicated that Dr Muzammil and Dr Shaheen had indeed procured chemicals for making explosives from these establishments. The NIA further brought Dr Shaheen to one of the chemical shops for questioning in front of the shopkeeper, who, despite claiming inability to recall individual buyers due to high customer traffic, had his record register seized by the investigating officer. Subsequently, the SDM was requested to form an investigative committee. The committee's thorough inquiry unveiled several critical violations: the shops were found to be stocking chemicals far in excess of the permitted quantities, misusing their trade licenses, and crucially, operating without valid licenses for selling certain chemicals while also failing to maintain mandatory records of buyers. These findings underscored significant regulatory failures and the potential for such unregulated sales to facilitate criminal activities, leading to the prompt sealing of the premises.
