Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport faced continued flight delays caused by a technical failure in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) supporting Air Traffic Control operations. The glitch disrupted data transmission, forcing manual processing of flight plans and resulting in widespread delays affecting major airlines and passenger queues.

Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were severely disrupted due to a technical failure in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), which facilitates the exchange of critical air safety messages and supports Air Traffic Control (ATC) flight planning. This state-of-the-art computerized system experienced a glitch leading to the failure of data transmission to ATC operators’ screens, compelling them to compile flight data manually. Consequently, all airline operations at the airport faced delays, impacting hundreds of flights since Thursday and resulting in long passenger queues. Major airlines including SpiceJet, IndiGo, and Air India advised passengers to stay updated on revised flight schedules. The ATC system, crucial for coordinating aircraft movements during takeoff and landing, relies heavily on the AMSS for timely and safe operations. The Airports Authority of India confirmed that technical teams were working to resolve the issue promptly. Passengers were urged to monitor airline updates and cooperate amid the disruptions continuing into the late afternoon of Friday, November 7, 2025.
