Honeywell will supply advanced process technologies and catalysts to Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, significantly boosting propylene and linear alkylbenzene (LAB) production. This expansion, leveraging Honeywell UOP’s Oleflex™ technology, aims to increase propylene output by 750,000 metric tons and LAB by 400,000 metric tons annually. The collaboration is set to enhance regional energy security, accelerate industrial growth, strengthen supply chains across West Africa, and position Dangote as a leading global petrochemical producer.

Honeywell is set to provide advanced petrochemical process technologies and catalysts to Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, marking a significant expansion aimed at strengthening the production of plastics and detergents in West Africa. This strategic collaboration is expected to substantially enhance regional energy security by reducing import dependence, accelerate industrial growth, and reinforce vital supply chains across the region. A key part of the expansion involves the deployment of Honeywell UOP’s Oleflex™ technology, which will significantly increase propylene output by an additional 750,000 metric tons per year, supporting the manufacturing of packaging materials and consumer goods.Furthermore, Dangote will integrate a suite of Honeywell UOP technologies and catalysts to produce 400,000 metric tons per year of linear alkylbenzene (LAB), a crucial raw material for detergents. Once operational, the Lekki LAB plant is projected to be one of the largest globally. Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, highlighted that this partnership aligns with Nigeria’s long-term industrial vision, positioning Dangote as a global supplier. Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell UOP, emphasized that Honeywell’s advanced technologies and digital solutions will maximize efficiency and throughput. Building on a strong existing partnership, Dangote also aims to expand its refining capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, potentially becoming the world’s largest petroleum refinery. This expansion underscores Dangote’s ambition for global competitiveness and strengthens West Africa's role in the global petrochemical value chain.
