IChemE and All About Futures Partner to Inspire Students in Chemical Engineering
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and All About Futures have partnered to launch DiscoverChemEngLIVE Challenge Days. This program will bring interactive, hands-on chemical, biochemical, and process engineering experiences to Year 8 students in state-funded schools across specific UK regions. Delivered with regional partners, the initiative aims to spark curiosity, confidence, and creativity, showcasing how engineers develop sustainable solutions to improve lives and protect the planet, inspiring future talent in the field.
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and All About Futures have announced a significant partnership to introduce chemical, biochemical, and process engineering to Year 8 students in state-funded schools across the UK. Their collaborative initiative, DiscoverChemEngLIVE Challenge Days, will be delivered at no cost to schools in Merseyside & Cheshire, Yorkshire & the Humber, Scotland, and the North East, with support from regional partners CATCH, Education Academy Scotland, and RTC North.These Challenge Days are meticulously designed to ignite curiosity, confidence, and creativity through engaging, fast-paced, team-based activities. Students will tackle real-world sustainability challenges and explore how engineers transform everyday materials like seaweed, graphite, and sand into essential products. The program's core objective is to illustrate the profound impact chemical and process engineers have in combining creativity, collaboration, and innovation to develop sustainable solutions that enhance lives and safeguard the environment, ultimately helping to engineer a more sustainable world. Dr. Rachel Bibby, Director of Member Experience and Professional Learning at IChemE, emphasized the program's vital role in showcasing chemical and process engineering as an exciting and diverse career path, highlighting opportunities available with local employers to future generations.
