India and the European Union have started negotiations to resolve outstanding issues in their proposed bilateral free trade agreement. India and the European Union have resumed negotiations to finalize a comprehensive free trade agreement, with European negotiators currently in Delhi for talks from November 3-7. The discussions center on key areas such as trade in goods, services, rules of origin, and technical and institutional matters. Both parties are working towards a balanced and equitable framework that benefits both sides. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a virtual meeting with European Commissioner Maros Sefcovic and Agriculture Commissioner Christophe Hansen. The engagement reaffirms the commitment to intensify efforts and facilitate a modern, robust, and future-ready FTA. Sabine Weyand, Director-General for Trade at the European Commission, will also participate in talks with India's Commerce Secretary. The ongoing negotiations underscore the joint determination to conclude a fair and balanced agreement, fostering trade, investment, innovation, and sustainable growth between India and the EU.
