India and Germany Reaffirm Renewable Energy Partnership to Boost Sustainable Growth
India and Germany marked the 25th anniversary of their strategic partnership by renewing commitments to advance renewable energy and sustainable development. During a four-day visit to India, German Parliamentary State Secretary Johann Saathoff reaffirmed the strong bilateral renewable energy partnership coinciding with 25 years of strategic cooperation between India and Germany. The visit included stops in Chennai and Delhi-NCR, where Saathoff inaugurated the German Pavilion at Renewable Energy India Expo 2025 showcasing joint innovations in solar, wind, and green hydrogen technologies. Discussions at the Indo-German CEO Roundtable focused on solar manufacturing, technology sharing, and investment collaboration. Saathoff emphasized renewable energy as both an economic driver and moral imperative for future generations. He also toured the Agri-Photovoltaic demonstration site at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, illustrating productive coexistence of agriculture and solar power, promoting food and energy security alongside sustainable rural livelihoods. The partnership integrates ministries, development organizations like GIZ and KfW, and private sectors to strengthen renewable energy value chains, foster knowledge exchange, and support technology and investment opportunities.
