India and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development during a visit by Germany’s Parliamentary State Secretary Johann Saathoff. Both countries showcased advancements in solar, wind, and green hydrogen technologies, focusing on technology exchange, solar manufacturing, and investment collaboration. This cooperation aligns with their 25-year strategic partnership and supports climate-friendly growth and global renewable energy value chains.

During Parliamentary State Secretary Johann Saathoff’s four-day visit to India, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the Indo-German strategic partnership, Germany and India reaffirmed their strong collaboration on renewable energy and sustainable growth. Saathoff inaugurated the German Pavilion at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2025 in New Delhi, where companies from both nations presented innovations in solar, wind, and green hydrogen technologies. The partnership emphasizes a unified “Team Germany” approach involving ministries, development agencies such as GIZ and KfW, and the private sector to bolster global renewable energy value chains. Key discussions at the Indo-German CEO Roundtable on Solar Energy focused on solar manufacturing, technology exchange, and investment opportunities. The collaboration extends to policy support, green energy technology transfer, and fostering skilled workforce through education and research. Germany supports India in sustainable infrastructure, including the development of solar and wind plants, green energy corridors, and integration of renewable sources into the power grid. Together, their cooperation advances India’s energy transition goals under international climate initiatives while underscoring renewable energy as both an economic driver and a moral obligation to protect the planet for future generations.
