India and Israel Deepen Strategic Ties, Explore Trade Corridor and Netanyahu’s Visit
India and Israel held high-level talks focusing on strategic cooperation in counter-terrorism, trade, and connectivity. They discussed advancing the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and preparations for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s potential visit to New Delhi. Both sides reaffirmed strong bilateral ties, including a defense pact and support for the Gaza Peace Plan, while addressing terrorism and expanding cooperation in technology and agriculture.
On November 4, 2025, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met in New Delhi to discuss comprehensive cooperation across political, economic, and security domains. A key agenda was the progress of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), a major infrastructure initiative connecting India, the Middle East, and Europe through ports, rail, and road networks. This project, announced at the 2023 G20 Summit, aims to transform regional trade and connectivity, with Israel expressing strong support for IMEC.The meeting also addressed counter-terrorism challenges faced by both countries, emphasizing a global zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. Sa’ar highlighted threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthis, reiterating Israel’s stance on disarming Hamas and demilitarizing Gaza. India expressed support for the Gaza Peace Plan, which has facilitated ceasefire measures and the release of hostages.Bilateral trade and defense cooperation were key topics, reinforced by a recently signed defense pact facilitating technology sharing and joint development. Discussions covered expanding collaboration in agriculture, semiconductors, cybersecurity, and innovation. Both ministers noted growing people-to-people ties, including increasing numbers of Indian workers in Israel and prospective direct Air India flights to Israel starting January.Sa’ar’s visit also included meetings with India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and a visit to the Haifa Memorial. Preparations are underway for a potential official visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to India. Overall, the talks underscored a robust strategic partnership aiming to enhance regional integration, security cooperation, and technological collaboration between India and Israel.
