India and Israel Deepen Strategic Ties on Counterterrorism and Regional Connectivity

India and Israel have committed to deepening their strategic partnership, focusing on counterterrorism, trade, and regional connectivity. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar held talks in New Delhi, emphasizing a global zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. Both leaders discussed the evolving situation in Gaza and reaffirmed support for the US-backed Gaza peace plan, hoping it leads to a durable solution. Sa’ar described radical terror as a common threat and reiterated Israel’s stance against Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. The ministers also discussed regional connectivity projects such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and the I2U2 initiative. A bilateral investment agreement signed in September is expected to boost economic ties. Jaishankar highlighted India’s infrastructure capabilities and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in agriculture, innovation, semiconductors, and cyber issues. The two sides also finalized an MoU on training between their foreign service institutes. Sa’ar praised India’s growing global influence and noted the increasing presence of Indian workers in Israel. The discussions set the stage for further high-level visits and enhanced bilateral collaboration.
