India and Israel Discuss Enhanced Anti-terror Cooperation and Regional Connectivity in Delhi

India and Israel held high-level talks in New Delhi focusing on strengthening anti-terror cooperation with a shared commitment to a global zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. They also discussed expanding bilateral trade, infrastructure, and connectivity, including the implementation of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and potential direct Air India flights to Israel. Both nations expressed support for the US-brokered Gaza peace plan aiming for durable regional peace.

In a significant diplomatic engagement, India and Israel's External Affairs Ministers, S Jaishankar and Gideon Sa’ar, met in New Delhi to discuss multiple facets of their strategic partnership, emphasizing counterterrorism efforts and regional stability. Both ministers underscored the importance of a global zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism, mentioning the challenges posed by groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Israel reiterated its commitment to uprooting these 'radical terror states,' aligning with the US-sponsored Gaza peace plan which seeks to disarm Hamas and demilitarize Gaza. India expressed its support for this peace initiative, welcoming hostage returns and hoping for a lasting solution.The dialogue also covered economic and infrastructural cooperation, focusing on trade, agriculture, innovation, semiconductors, cybersecurity, and people-to-people mobility. Discussions included the potential start of direct Air India flights to Israel and increasing Indian business interest in Israel's infrastructure sector. The two ministers highlighted the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), a regional connectivity project aimed at integrating South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe via road, rail, and shipping networks. Both countries showed mutual commitment to expanding bilateral ties through defense, technology, and investment agreements. This meeting reflects the deepening India-Israel strategic relationship built on trust and aligned regional interests.
