India and Israel Sign New MoU to Strengthen Defense and Technology Cooperation
India and Israel signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance defense, industrial, and technological cooperation during the Joint Working Group meeting in Tel Aviv. The agreement aims to deepen their strategic partnership through collaboration on advanced weapon systems, AI, cyber security, joint research, and industrial initiatives. Both countries reaffirmed their mutual trust and shared security interests.
India and Israel formalized a significant new MoU on defense cooperation at the 17th Joint Working Group meeting held in Tel Aviv, marking an important milestone in their strategic partnership. The agreement, signed by Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Israeli Ministry of Defence Director General Major General (Res) Amir Baram, provides a unified policy framework to deepen existing defense ties. It identifies expanded collaboration in joint research, development, co-production of military systems, training, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and emerging defense technologies. The MoU reflects the ongoing cooperation between Indian and Israeli defense industries, including major players like Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries, and Elbit Systems, which have worked with India under the Make in India initiative. Israeli officials highlighted the mutual trust and strategic alignment behind this partnership, aiming at regional stability and addressing shared security challenges, including counter-terrorism efforts. The Indian delegation also met with Israeli defense CEOs, reinforcing business ties and potential joint projects. This agreement complements India's recent launch of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, aiming to develop integrated air and missile defense systems, where Israeli expertise could play a key role. The defense cooperation is part of Israel’s broader strategy to expand markets in Asia and strengthen regional alliances through partnerships such as I2U2 and IMEC. The MoU sets the stage for enhanced technological exchange and industrial-defense partnerships between the two nations.
