India and Peru to Resume Trade Negotiations in New Delhi in January 2026
India and Peru will hold the 10th round of trade negotiations in New Delhi in January 2026, following substantive progress in their ninth round in Lima. Key focus areas include trade in goods and services, critical minerals, customs procedures, and dispute settlement. Both countries aim to conclude the agreement soon, expected to boost cooperation in sectors like pharmaceuticals, automobiles, textiles, and food processing.
India and Peru are set to continue their trade negotiations with the 10th round scheduled in New Delhi in January 2026, after completing the ninth round of talks in Lima from November 3-5, 2025. The talks have made substantive progress across several crucial areas such as trade in goods and services, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade, customs procedures, dispute settlement, and especially cooperation on critical minerals, which are vital for sectors like electronics, automotive, and solar energy. Both sides agreed to hold intersessional meetings to resolve pending issues ahead of the next round. Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Teresa Stella Mera Gómez, emphasized the complementarity between the two economies and the commitment to timely conclusion of the deal, expressing optimism about enhanced trade and investment flows. India's Ambassador to Peru, Vishvas Vidu Sapkal, noted potential new cooperation opportunities in pharmaceuticals, automobiles, textiles, and food processing. Concurrently, India and Chile have also progressed in their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement talks, marking India's growing focus on deepening economic ties with Latin America to expand market access and diversify trade partnerships.
