India and Russia Discuss Strengthening Defense Cooperation in New Delhi
Representatives from India and Russia held the 5th meeting of their working group on defense and military-technical cooperation in New Delhi on October 28-29, reaffirming their commitment to deepening their special and privileged strategic partnership. The fifth meeting of the India-Russia Working Group on Military Cooperation was convened at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi on October 28-29, 2025. Co-chaired by Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff of India, and Lt Gen Igor Dylevsky, Deputy Chief of Russia's Main Operational Directorate, the meeting emphasized strengthening and expanding defense cooperation between the two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to elevating their special and privileged strategic partnership—originally established in 2000 and upgraded in 2020—through enhanced training exchanges, focused engagements, and new collaborative initiatives. The working group serves as a key platform for reviewing current military commitments and exploring emerging areas to address shared security challenges.
