Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with European Union Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič and other senior EU officials to discuss the progress of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations. A senior EU negotiation team arrived in New Delhi on November 3, 2025, to engage in talks until November 7. The discussions cover trade in goods, trade in services, rules of origin, technical, and institutional matters, reflecting a shared vision for a modern and future-ready agreement that respects both parties’ priorities and sensitivities. This visit follows Minister Goyal's visit to Brussels in late October 2025, reaffirming both sides’ commitment to intensify engagement toward a comprehensive trade deal. High-level talks also involve Sabine Weyand, Director-General for Trade at the European Commission, engaging with India's Commerce Secretary on technical and policy issues.
