External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized that India and Japan’s partnership should leverage their strengths to focus on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, critical minerals, clean energy, and space. He referenced the joint vision established during Prime Minister Modi's recent visit to Japan, highlighting eight priority pillars and a 10 trillion yen investment target over the next decade. The cooperation also includes initiatives in defence, security, economic security, and human resource exchanges.

At the 8th India-Japan Indo-Pacific Forum held in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar outlined the future focus areas for the bilateral partnership between India and Japan. He stressed the importance of leveraging both countries' strengths to bolster supply chains and invest in cutting-edge sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, critical minerals, clean energy, and space exploration. This strategic cooperation aligns with the agenda set during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August visit to Japan, which laid out eight priority pillars and set a target of 10 trillion yen in investments over the next ten years. Jaishankar also highlighted important collaborative frameworks including the Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation, the next-generation mobility partnership, the economic security initiative, the joint crediting mechanism, and agreements on clean hydrogen, ammonia, and mineral resources. Additionally, the growing importance of people-to-people exchanges through a human resource cooperation action plan was mentioned, reinforcing the comprehensive and evolving nature of the India-Japan bilateral relationship. These developments reflect a shared commitment to maintaining strategic stability and economic growth in the Indo-Pacific region in the face of complex global challenges.
