On October 30, 2025, Antonio Bartoli, the Italian Ambassador to India and Nepal, inaugurated the new regional office of the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This expansion is a strategic move to deepen the growing economic, trade, and cultural relationship between Italy and India. Gujarat, as one of India's most innovative and economically advanced states — with an average annual growth rate of 10 percent and annual exports of about $150 billion — is a critical hub for this collaboration. Approximately 60 Italian companies already operate in Gujarat, spanning sectors such as textiles, chemicals, construction materials, and ceramics. Ambassador Bartoli emphasized the shared partnership between Italy and India rooted in innovation, design, and business capabilities, envisioning the new office as a bridge for enhanced collaboration. Tarun Pandey, Vice President of IICCI, underscored the office's role in facilitating business matchmaking, institutional delegations, B2B networking, and sector-specific projects in engineering, renewable energy, food processing, fashion, design, and smart technologies. Founded in 1966, the IICCI is a government-recognized bilateral organization promoting cross-border investment with a presence in major Indian cities including Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and now Ahmedabad, reflecting its expanded commitment to supporting Italian and Indian businesses.
