In the recent Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) elections, the Left Unity alliance comprising the All India Students' Association (AISA), Students' Federation of India (SFI), and Democratic Students' Federation (DSF) retained its dominance by winning all four key posts against the RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Aditi Mishra was elected President with 1,861 votes over ABVP's Vikas Patel, who received 1,447 votes. Kizhakoot Gopika Babu won the Vice President post against Tanya Kumari, while Sunil Yadav was elected General Secretary, narrowly defeating Rajeshwar Kant Dubey by 1,915 to 1,841 votes. Danish Ali earned the Joint Secretary position with 1,991 votes against Anuj Damara's 1,762. The elections saw a 67 percent turnout from over 9,000 eligible voters, reflecting vibrant political participation marked by chants and campaign songs. The result marked a setback for the ABVP, which had regained some ground in recent years but was decisively overcome. This outcome reinforces the Left Unity's long-standing political influence within JNU, a university known for its active culture of debate and student activism.
