Larsen & Toubro (L&T) secured a major Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) order from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) for a landmark petrochemical project in Bina, Madhya Pradesh, valued between ₹5,000–10,000 crore. This project will establish India's largest LLDPE/HDPE Swing Unit, crucial for BPCL's refinery expansion. The initiative supports India's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' vision by boosting domestic polymer production, reducing import dependency, and benefiting sectors like packaging, infrastructure, automotive, and consumer goods.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded a substantial Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) contract by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) for a pivotal petrochemical project situated in Bina, Madhya Pradesh. This significant order, valued between ₹5,000–10,000 crore, falls under L&T’s 'Major' classification and will be executed by its hydrocarbon onshore business vertical on a lump-sum turnkey basis. The core of the project involves the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Swing Unit. Upon completion, with its two trains each boasting a capacity of 575 KTPA, this facility will become India’s largest LLDPE/HDPE Swing Unit, marking a new milestone in domestic polyethylene production. This initiative is an integral part of BPCL’s larger Bina Petrochemicals and Refinery Expansion Project, aimed at establishing an integrated petrochemical complex. The expansion is set to boost BPCL’s refinery capacity from 7.8 MMTPA to approximately 11 MMTPA, significantly enhancing the company's downstream value chain. Furthermore, this substantial investment strongly aligns with the Government of India’s 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, fostering domestic manufacturing and strategically reducing the nation's reliance on imported polymer products. The increased polyethylene capacity is anticipated to provide significant benefits to diverse downstream sectors including packaging, infrastructure, automotive, and consumer goods, thereby securing the supply chain for essential polymers and bolstering India's journey towards economic self-reliance and sustainable industrial growth.
