Lieutenant General Avinash Das, an experienced ENT surgeon with nearly four decades in the Armed Forces Medical Services, took charge as Commandant of the Army Hospital Research & Referral in Delhi on November 1, 2025. An alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College Pune, he has held significant leadership roles and is known for his clinical expertise and administrative excellence. His appointment aims to enhance the hospital’s medical care and research standards.

Lieutenant General Avinash Das, acclaimed ENT specialist and Armed Forces Medical Services officer, assumed the role of Commandant at the Army Hospital Research & Referral (R&R) in Delhi Cantt on November 1, 2025. An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Lt Gen Das brings nearly 40 years of distinguished service blending clinical proficiency with strategic leadership. He has held key positions including Senior Advisor at Base Hospital Delhi Cantt and Command Hospital Lucknow. Notably, as Commandant of Command Hospital (Northern Command) in Udhampur, he oversaw relocating the hospital to a state-of-the-art facility. Throughout his career, he has earned multiple commendations such as COAS, CISC, and GOC-in-C cards. His new appointment is expected to drive innovation and elevate healthcare quality, research, and medical education at India’s premier military medical institution, benefiting Armed Forces personnel and beyond.
