MeitY appoints Akhil Kumar as interim head of CSC SPV alongside Digital India Corporation CEO role

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has appointed Akhil Kumar, the current CEO of Digital India Corporation, as the interim head of the Common Services Centres Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC SPV). Kumar, a 1994 batch UP cadre IPS officer and IIT Delhi alumnus, brings extensive experience in cyber policy and counter-terrorism from his prior roles.

Akhil Kumar, an IPS officer from the 1994 Uttar Pradesh cadre and alumnus of IIT Delhi, has been appointed as the interim head of the CSC SPV by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. He already serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital India Corporation, a position he assumed following clearance from the Uttar Pradesh Home Department and subsequent central government approval. Kumar’s credentials include a Fulbright Scholarship, an MPhil in National Security Strategy from the National Defence College, and prior experience as a Director in the Ministry of External Affairs managing counter-terrorism and cyber policy. His appointment to lead the CSC SPV comes as an interim arrangement and leverages his extensive expertise in digital governance and security, enhancing the government's efforts to expand digital infrastructure and services through the Common Services Centres network.
