The Nepal Embassy in New Delhi expressed appreciation for the swift response from India's Ministry of Home Affairs after Shambhavi Adhikari, a Nepali national transiting through Delhi airport to Berlin, was denied boarding by Qatar Airways and sent back to Kathmandu. The MHA clarified that the Indian immigration authorities were not involved; the airline made the decision due to visa validity concerns based on destination country rules. International transit passengers do not need to pass through Indian immigration during onward travel. The incident was wrongly portrayed as discrimination against Nepali citizens. After rescheduling, Adhikari successfully traveled to Germany by a different route. The Nepal Embassy stated intentions to engage with airlines and authorities to prevent such occurrences in the future.
